Servicing the Community
Public Library
The Public Library offers free of charge service to all Shire residents. Free library services also extended to all visitors to Christmas Island. The Library has many resources including Shire’s local history collection and is serviced with regular library book exchanges from the State Library of Western Australia.

Monday - Friday 12noon - 4pm
Saturday 10am - 12noon

Better Beginnings / Story Time
Enjoy reading with your children! Story Time is held on the last Saturday of every month, from 10:45am - 11:15am

BorrowBox
A free app and website that allows public library members to borrow, read, and listen to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines on smartphones, tablets, and computers. It features a wide selection of content from top authors, including exclusive digital titles, and integrates directly with local library memberships.
Once you have downloaded your free app from the Apple Store or Google Play, log in and register. Use barcode on your library card.
State Library
Join the State Library. As a member, you can borrow books and other items from their collection and access a range of eBooks and other electronic resources.

A free, user-friendly app developed by OverDrive allowing library members to borrow digital books, audiobooks, and magazines instantly. Use your library card to access, browse, and download content, with titles automatically returning on their due dates to avoid late fees.

Busy Things
An online resource for the early years, that includes over 115 fun learning activities, that help children learn important skills, in the key learning areas of creative development, problem solving, reasoning, numeracy, communication, language and literacy. Kanopy
Provides members access to a collection of films - including award-winning documentaries, movies, foreign films and theatrical releases. It also offers a wide variety of topics including foreign languages, career and personal development, history and much more.
The Kanopy app allows you to access the Kanopy video Streaming platform on your mobile device. You will need to create an account and add your library card information to watch films on the app.
Better Beginnings
A family literacy program that connects families with books through free reading packs. The goal is to improve literacy and learning outcomes for all W.A. children by encouraging families to read, talk, sing, draw and play with their child every day. Use your Library card for free access.
