The Shire of Christmas Island would like to inform the community of a change of location for the update of the Unknown Sailor interpretation event. National Parks has informed the community that November 19th will be the spawning day for the red crab migration. Traversing to Tai Jin House with the expected numbers of attendees will not be practical.

The event location will be changed to the Post Office Padang, adjacent to the mango tree at the top of the mound.

Parks and Shire staff will be conducting street sweeping and traffic control as planned.

We highly recommend that attendees walk to the venue if possible, or park at the Visitor Centre/Supermarket in Settlement and walk in.

As is the practice every year, traffic at the roundabout may be controlled at this period by Shire and Parks staff depending on the crab numbers.
