Council supports the Emergency Management Committee’s communication capabilities through operating the Shire of Christmas Island SMS Emergency Text Network.

Individuals registered on this system will receive SMS texts sent out by the Shire during emergency events, as well as in preparation for weather and other events that may have a widespread impact on the island. Messages are drafted by the Emergency Management Committee or the Shire of Christmas 

Island.

To register your number on the Shire SMS Emergency Text Network, please text your first and last name to 0439215314.

You will receive a first confirmation message within 24 hours.

This system requires buy-in through registration. The system cannot blanket send SMS from select phone towers in a region as some mainland emergency services can do.

Emergency SMS messages are sent in English, Malay and Chinese.

Majlis Shire menyokong keupayaan komunikasi Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Kecemasan melalui pengendalian Sistem SMS Kecemasan Shire Pulau Krismas (Sistem E-SMS SOCI).

Para individu yang berdaftar dalam sistem ini akan menerima teks SMS yang dihantar oleh Shire semasa kejadian kecemasan, serta sebagai persediaan menghadapi cuaca dan kejadian lain yang mungkin memberi impak yang meluas di pulau. Mesej dirangka oleh Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Kecemasan atau Shire Pulau Krismas.

Untuk mendaftarkan nombor anda pada Sistem E-SMS SOCI, sila hantar nama pertama dan nama keluarga anda ke 0439215314.

Anda akan menerima mesej pengesahan pertama dalam masa 24 jam.

Sistem ini memerlukan pembelian melalui pendaftaran. Sistem tidak boleh menutup SMS daripada menara telefon terpilih di rantau seperti yang boleh dilakukan oleh beberapa perkhidmatan kecemasan di tanah besar Australia.
