In accordance with the resolution of the Fisheries Management Committee the Shire of Christmas Island has conducted the Christmas Island Bag Limits Fishing Ordinance 2021 ballot. The ballot was open to all Christmas Islanders of 18 years and over with at least 3 months residency on Christmas Island.

The ballot was conducted by the returning officer Chris Su for the Shire of Christmas Island. Voting occurred between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM each day on Monday 18 October until Friday 22 October at the Shire library and on Saturday 23 October at the Poon Saan Community Hall.

241 Voting Papers were issued. All were returned. There were no informal votes.

The votes in favour of the proposal were: Yes 231

The votes opposed to the proposal were: No 10

The proposed Christmas Island Bag Limits Fishing Ordinance 2021 was approved.
